PlanetBox Offers ParentsAUnique, Eco-friendly Solution for Packing Healthy School Lunches

San Rafael, CA (April 28, 2011) – Packing lunches for 180 school days every year can be downright exhausting. Not only are the food choices daunting, but concerns about “food not touching” or “food getting squished” are frequently heard complaints. Parents want to pack easy, healthy lunches for their kids, but need the right tools to make sure that kids actually eat these lunches. It was this desire that set Caroline and Robert Miros on a quest for a better way to pack lunches for their two daughters.

The couple searched the globe for alternatives to wasteful plastic baggies and bulky metal containers, but had little success. So they decided to design and create something completely new. After two years of design efforts, the husband and wife team launched PlanetBox!, an eco-friendly lunchbox made out of high quality food-grade stainless steel.

In keeping with Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative to solve the childhood obesity epidemic, PlanetBox is designed to help parents pack healthy, well-balanced lunches their kids will love.  Part Japanese Bento box, part TV dinner tray, PlanetBox’s individual compartments ensure that foods do not “touch each other.”  The sandwich compartment guarantees no more squished sandwiches.  There’s plenty of room for fruit and veggies, and even a small spot for a little tasty treat. The right-sized compartments guide parents on how to pack a variety of foods, and get the portions right. At the end of the day, the whole thing can go in the dishwasher for easy cleaning.

PlanetBox’s kid-friendly design features one easy to use latch that little fingers can open and close on their own.  Food arrives at school neatly displayed in one super stylish looking tray. And here’s the coolest part–kids get to personalize their own kits with ultra-hip “rocket”, “under the sea”, or “retro kitty” themed magnet designs (11 styles to choose from). What better way for kids to express their personality!

Definitely not your old-fashioned metal lunch box, PlanetBox is truly lunch transportation for the green generation.

My son is a picky eater. He also has very little appetite and we struggle to get him to eat. When I saw PlanetBox, I thought it could be the answer to our problems. He gets bored with foods very quickly, and I like to give him a variety of things to eat in his lunch. His old lunch box couldn’t hold a lot of containers, but the PlanetBox’s compartments make it easy to split up his food into different spots! The PlanetBox also offers different magnet sets that you can use on the containers. My son chose the train magnets.

Sometimes he chooses to leave the magnets off, and when we want to get some different ones, PlanetBox has several different magnet sets to offer. This lunch container and bag has really helped get Kellen to eat more. We have used it for snacks to take on a road trip….

And we have used it for his lunches. His dietician recommends high calorie items like muffins but of course I don’t want to just feed him that, so I love that I can fit fruit and cheese, etc. in the container as well, and when it is all open and right in front of him he will eat it.

Now I need to get two more PlanetBox lunch bags for Avery and Griffin. It is really a great way to make sure your kids are eating a variety of foods and enjoying their lunches.
