Celebrating the Chinese New Year with #VHSauces

January 23rd was the Chinese New Year - the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. In China, it is known as “Spring Festival.” This year was the Year of the Dragon, known as the only mythological and “free spirit” of the Chinese Zodiac. This year of the Dragon, VH is going back to its roots to celebrate Chinese New Year with families across Canada. We’ll share themes of luck, prosperity, longevity, wealth, happiness and peace along with some delicious and flavourful meal solutionsthat are sure to be crowd-pleasers all year long.

My children have always been a little picky when it comes to dinner…any dinner…so I knew if I was going to get them to celebrate the Chinese New Year, I was going to have to make something that they would like. VH Sauces had the answer, and I came up with a classic and delicious meal for them…honey garlic spareribs.

VH honey garlic cooking sauce

These ribs were made in the crock pot all day, covered in VH Honey Garlic cooking sauce, and then put on the grill and covered with some Mild Garlic Rib sauce. They were DELICIOUS! My daughter said she didn’t want them (in typical fashion) and we gave our usual “You just need to try it” response. She took one bite, and she was hooked! She even had seconds, and that never happens.

The VH website has many delicious looking recipes such as Hoisin Meatballs with Pineapple and Spring Rolls with Hoisin Dip. I think my children will like Chicken Almond or one of the burger recipes they have listed.

If you are looking for something quick and easy to make, check out VH Steamers.  VH Steamers are Asian-inspired meals ready in less than 5 minutes and steamed to perfection… not only for busy weeknights, perfect for working moms and dads to take to the office for lunch! I like to get them for my son who is away at college. I know he’s eating a healthy meal, and it’s easy enough to make that I know he will do it!

Be sure to enter my VH Giveaway. It’s ending soon!

Disclosure – I am participating in the VH Chinese New Year Celebration program by Mom Central Canada on behalf of VH.  I received compensation as a thank you for my participation. The opinions on this blog are my own.
